Curb Strap

ROPE CURB STRAP
The curb strap runs under the chin groove of the horse, tied to each side of the bit.
The curb prevents the bit from rotating too far in the horse's mouth, which may be very uncomfortable.
The reason to use a curb strap on a snaffle is to prevent the snaffle rings to pull through your horse's mouth. 
If you do use a curb be sure it's  adjusted loosely in front of your reins—never behind your reins.
